Purpose:

The Project Manager manages, directs, and coordinates plant improvement projects and activities (Capital and Major Refurbishment projects), and drives improvements in plant safety, environmental performance and quality and operational excellence. The Project Manager meets or exceeds performance and cost goals within the defined standards of safety, environmental performance, and quality. The Project Manager is responsible for Capital and Major Refurbishment project budget development, organization, presentation and implementation.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Is a member of the plant safety and environmental leadership team and is expected to uphold and
  • grow the safety and environmental culture in the plant by working with plant employees and
  • leadership towards overall improvement in safety and environmental systems.
  • Manages the plant capital and major refurbishment budgets, including annual budget generation,
  • and justification, development of presentations and interaction with Eagle Materials during the
  • budget process.
  • Interacts with all resources needed, be it internal or external to the plant team, to develop project
  • scopes, budgets and timelines.
  • Provides accurate cost forecasting in coordination with the Vice President of Finance.
  • Creates long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to
  • deadlines.
  • Makes effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the
  • project.
  • Communicates with Vice President of Operations to keep the project aligned with their goals.
  • Performs quality control on the project throughout development and execution to maintain the
  • standards expected.
  • Adjusts schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change.
  • Uses appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Measures project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Formal degree in civil or mechanical engineering.
  •  Basic understanding and familiarity with MSHA and state mining regulations.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in cement manufacturing.
  • Computer literate and capable of functional use of spread sheets and various data base programs.
  • Experience with MS Office and CMMS software.
  • Familiarity with cement process equipment.
  • Capable of making technical evaluations of machine performance and formulating specific solutions to problems identified.
  • Extensive knowledge of all operational processes involved in the cement manufacturing process, including engineering principles, management techniques, government regulations and production processes.

  • Ability to minimize/manage conflict.
