BASIC FUNCTION:
Plan, direct, and monitor preventative and corrective maintenance and repair activities, so that the organization’s buildings, facilities, machinery, and equipment operate reliably and to ensure continuity of business operations. Supervise projects and project engineers are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Plan, prioritize, schedule, and manage maintenance activities and projects to rectify and prevent breakdown and malfunctions and minimize business disruptions.
• Define and implement maintenance procedures and standards. • Maintain KPIs and reporting as required.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis as required.
• Monitor the cost effectiveness of activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and achieve timeliness, reliability, and safety standards.
• Plan equipment maintenance and monitor on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Provide strategic guidance on plant modifications to improve plant safety, efficiency, and capacity.
• Manage and direct the cost estimating process, building, control modifications and long-range plans,
• Supervise and execute the engineering design of process, building, control modifications and additions.
• Recommend process equipment specifications and direct the purchase requisitions of equipment.
• Maintain plant process drawings and control records for safety and compliance,
• Liaise with production, packaging and quality functions and direct maintenance functions by organizing and supervising maintenance activities as well as assisting in troubleshooting and optimization.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend new maintenance equipment and tools to enhance the capabilities of the maintenance team.
• Collaborate with the Plant Manager to develop annual plant capital budget requests. • Oversee the construction of capital projects, as required.
• Evaluate and approve proposals from engineering companies, contractors, and suppliers. • Approve vendor and contractor invoices for payments.
• Review plant performance status and concerns with Plant, Production and Quality Managers.
• Manager process for timely acquisition of necessary permits and licenses to facilitate plant operations and expansions. • Direct and maintain positive working relations with all regulatory agencies and utilities, ensuring uninterrupted operations and supply of power, water and natural gas.
• Serve as substitute Plant Manager, as needed.
• Participate in implementation and integration of general and specific safety procedures and instructions as well as ensure compliance of standards, policies, and regulations within all maintenance activities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 2-5 years of experience as an industrial or mechanical engineer. CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) Preferred. Strong computer skills required, and knowledge of ERP considered an asset. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment, automation and controls, machine design & layout, project management. Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals/drawings. Good people management and interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, social competence, and a strong team player. Solid communication skills both written and verbal. Highly motivated and results oriented. Ability to find solutions, proactively solve problems and to manage projects and drive to completion.
