Technical Support Specialist

The Technical Support Specialist provides maintenance and support of the computer desktop environment by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions, and supporting the internal helpdesk ticketing system. This position will be responsible for the administration and internal support of company computers, printers, plotters and related technology equipment and be the first point of contact for technical support. Tasks include Teammate support, performing computer maintenance, upgrades and configurations. This position requires an in-depth understanding of high-level customer service protocol.

This role is a fully remote, Salaried position.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of advanced computer hardware, including PC’s, laptops, external storage, printers
  • Application support experience with Windows 10 – 64bit operating systems
  • Application support experience with Microsoft Office 2016, O365, and Adobe Creative Cloud Products (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Strong detail and process oriented
  • Intermediate knowledge of Ethernet, networking, and cabling
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel as needed to provide technical support to other sites

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to IT Requests via helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for teammate workstations/laptops.
  • Install, test and configure new workstations/laptops, peripheral connections, and software.
  • Assist with onboarding of new Teammates including PC deployment.
  • Assist in documentation gathering for non-standard software and custom applications.
  • Support existing and new departmental project initiatives.
  • Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades.

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations Preferred:

  • Technical Support Specialist -- CompTIA A+ is preferred.

Education / Experience:

  • Technical School Diploma or Associate’s degree in the field of Computer Science/IT plus:
  • Technical Support Specialist: 1+ years’ desktop support experience within a high-volume, fast paced environment; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to have intermediate knowledge of:

  • Computer, networking, and technical skills including computer imaging, knowledge of computer hardware.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer, networking, and technical skills is required for a Senior Technical Support Specialist.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and policy/procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients and/or Teammates of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply logic and common practice in order to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
