A Senior Solution Architect plays a leadership role in design and building of the solutions within a focused IT domain.

  • Responsibilities include coaching and manages others as well as researching, analyzing, designing, proposing, and delivering solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies.
  • They have significant business knowledge and have one or more areas of technical expertise in which they concentrate.
  • They conceive solutions, build consensus, and sell/execute solutions.
  • They may be involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kick-off through the requirements analysis, design and implementation.
  • Additional responsibilities may include establishment of the overall architectural view, identification of major system interfaces, development of module reuse on an enterprise-wide scale, and identification of existing architecture weaknesses and opportunities for process reengineering.
  • They lead perform systems analysis and design, system modelling, performance modelling, integration planning and technology and component selection to ensure architectural consistency and coherence between technical and business processes.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 6-10 years of experience in multiple areas of IT
  • 3-5 years of relevant architecture experience
  • Wide experience in developing customer-centric solutions
  • Experienced in standard IT architectures and frameworks (TOGAF)
  • In-depth experience and knowledge of specific domains for which the solution architect will work
  • Has a deep knowledge of multiple technologies.
  • Proven track record in leading medium to large projects of moderate complexity
  • Working knowledge in Information Security and Data Privacy and regulations
  • Experience leading enterprise wide solution implementations to a successful conclusion.
  • Experience working in a global matrixed environment

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: STRATEGY:

  • Leads the Solution Design of one or many projects.
  • Leads the selection of tools and components used for an IT project.
  • Leads the design and modeling of tactical architectures for delivery, development, and support of projects.
  • Represents client company within the industry and key industry events.
  • Plans, coordinates, and performs software inspections and quality reviews.
  • Manages the Key Design Decision Process and Design Escalations.

     

    STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT:

  • Support leaders, technical experts and operations partners in business, infrastructure and application organizations in considering holistic and integrated approaches that align with enterprise architecture directions
  • Recommending and facilitate changes as needed to architecture patterns, blueprints, and policies.
  • Partners with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions
  • Partners with other solution and enterprise architects to provide a consensus based scalable and adaptable architectural solution.

    OPERATIONS/DELIVERY:

  • Promotes the use of a shared infrastructure and application roadmap to reduce costs and improve how information flows
  • Participates in and facilitates architecture solution reviews ensuring architectural fit across company

     

    TALENT:

  • Acts as a mentor and manages other Solution Architects.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Ability to “think big” and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology refresh and hype
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
