Position Summary:

The 5-Axis Product Service Engineer reports to the 5-Axis Product Manager and is responsible for traveling to customer and dealer facilities to install and service Sodick 5-axis milling machines and other Sodick machinery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Install, service and perform basic training on all Sodick milling machinery. Need to troubleshoot both electronic and mechanical problems that can occur on site by using proper basic testing equipment (i.e. multimeter or oscilloscope). Travel by car or airplane to both customer and dealer facilities. % of Time 60%

On-site intake of customer complaints regarding equipment malfunction and service issues and communication with customer and internal management regarding the technical analysis and determination. 30%

Document all work done in a legible and technically sound manner. Submit both service and expense reports for reimbursement. 5% 

Non-Essential / Marginal Responsibilities:

Operate a variety of office equipment such as personal computer, printer, copier, fax and work with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. % of Time As needed

Education, Experience and other qualifications:

1. Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience required.

2. Working knowledge of machine electronics and mechanics, CAD / CAM system, materials, tooling, and end mills required.

3. Experience on Heidenhain / Siemens controller preferred

4. Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain integrity and ethics in all conversations and actions with customers.

5. Self-motivated, able to work with little or no supervision and to calmly handle stressful situations when customers complain of equipment malfunctions.

6. Possess technical curiosity and ability to diagnose and solve production issues.

7. Detail-oriented and able to get work completed in a manufacturing environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

1. Decide what needs to be done to repair broken or malfunctioning machines.

2. Recommend what parts are needed to repair machines. Contact corporate office for confirmation of parts orders.
