Director of Development and Community Relations
fr Council on Aging - Southern California (The Council)

OR MISSION

Promoting the independence, health and dignity of older adults
through compassion, education and advocacy.

The Council on Aging – Southern California traces its roots to 1973, when three civic-minded women and a group of local leaders recognized the urgent need to advocate for and protect older adults in Orange County. Over the decades, the organization expanded its reach beyond county borders, prompting a name change in 2016 to reflect its broader regional impact.

Today, the Council has grown into a dynamic nonprofit with an annual revenue of approximately $7.5 million. Its mission is powered by the tireless dedication of more than 400 volunteers, 92 skilled staff members, and a passionate Board of Directors, all united in service to older adults. The Council operates from 93 locations, including senior centers and serves more than 100,000 older adults through free programs and services spanning nearly 42,000 square miles across Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Inyo, and Mono counties

In 2012, the Board of Directors appointed Lisa Wright Jenkins as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), bringing with her a distinguished background in the private sector, where she led global teams and built multi-million-dollar enterprises across the printing, technology, and chemical industries. A passionate advocate and the organization’s most enthusiastic champion, Lisa combines a strategic business mindset with a deep commitment to mission-driven excellence. Her leadership is marked by relentless innovation, continuously developing new programs that enrich and transform the lives of those the Council serves.

“Aging My Way” is their newest educational program, aimed at empowering older adults to take charge of their aging experience. Through educational workshops and resources, this program encourages older adults to actively participate in shaping their future, helping them maintain independence and quality of life as they age.
