Sterling Search Inc. has been exclusively retained to recruit for the Director of Development for the Asante Foundation (Foundation).

In 2012, Asante Foundation hired a new Executive Director, Floyd Harmon. Floyd came to the Foundation with experience in both healthcare and higher education including Hoag Hospital Foundation, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and University of California – San Diego and Irvine campuses. Within the last six years he has, grown the annual revenue, implemented a highly successful Oregon Wine Experience, introduced a donor relationship management model and structured the department for sustainable growth in revenue and impact.

The system is now ready for a comprehensive capital campaign, which is four-times larger than any campaign in the region and the largest in Asante’s history. With a supportive Foundation Board, a visionary executive team, the Foundation is well positioned to achieve philanthropic growth like never-before. This is a rare occasion to be part of such a significant campaign and serve in partnership with an accomplished, fast-paced, cohesive and successful, team of 16.

The Director of Development is responsible for developing and moving major gift relationships that lead to philanthropic support of Asante. In this position, you will be one of 3 leaders reporting to the Executive Director, and responsible for developing and moving donor relationships that lead to philanthropic support of Asante.

As the Director of Development for the Foundation, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Recommend and provide leadership to the formulation of the Foundations’ mission, goals, objectives and policies.
  • Provide leadership for the Foundations’ conceptual and developmental planning processes, including the formulation of the Foundations’ Strategic Plan and annual budget.
  • Have specific responsibility for oversight and management of the Foundations’ top donors and leadership volunteers
  • Manage operational and fiscal plans and the implementation of fundraising campaigns
  • Develop and promote public interest, understanding and goodwill for the Foundations' fundraising programs within the entities of the Asante Health System, the local community and with donors, both locally and nationally
  • Implement successful fundraising plans and meet financial performance goals established in the foundations' strategic plans

Candidates with the following qualifications are urged to consider this opportunity:

Must have requirements

  • Passion, imagination, vision, leadership, and integrity
  • 5 to 7 years fundraising experience, including raising revenues in excess of one million dollars annually. Expereince closing major gifts and working a moves-management model
  • 5 to 7 years experience developing, managing and implementing multi-million dollar strategic plans/business plans.
  • Previous management and leadership experience in a development function
  • Bachelor’s degree


    Preferred qualifications

  • Experience leading project teams and major program or project development.
  • Experience with volunteer board leadership; leadership in community activities
  • Experience with conceptual development of major programs or campaigns and analyzing return on investment
  • Expereince with public speaking and special event coordination.
  • An understanding of all aspects and principals of fundraising.
  • Computer literate: Working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and experience with fundraising database software. Raiser’s Edge a plus
