Structure Resources is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with a nationally recognized design-build contractor. This award-winning firm delivers complex infrastructure projects across commercial, industrial, and mission-critical environments and is expanding its commissioning team due to continued national demand.
This role is ideal for a hands-on mechanical commissioning professional who thrives in the field and has strong experience with HVAC, hydronic, and life safety system startup and testing. The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will execute commissioning activities from pre-functional planning through system startup, functional performance testing, and final turnover, ensuring all mechanical systems perform in accordance with design intent and owner requirements.

What They’re Looking For:
3–5 years of experience executing mechanical commissioning activities on commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, AHUs, CRAC/CRAH units, VAVs, and hydronic systems
Experience commissioning associated systems such as plumbing, process piping, and building automation systems (BAS)
Working understanding of commissioning plans, startup procedures, system integration, and functional performance testing
Ability to coordinate with GCs, mechanical contractors, controls vendors, and owner teams
Comfortable working on-site approximately 75% of the time across regional and national projects
Familiarity with OSHA 10 and standard construction safety practices
Proficient in commissioning documentation, test forms, deficiency tracking, and software tools (Bluebeam, CMMS, CAD, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
Bonus Qualifications:
Experience commissioning data centers, hospitals, laboratories, or other mission-critical facilities
Familiarity with MCx documentation, integrated systems testing, and final turnover packages
Experience troubleshooting HVAC and hydronic system performance issues
Ability to support owner training and facilitate operational handoff
Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills in fast-paced environments
