A highly respected Midwest law firm has engaged SuiteSpot Executive Search, LLC to assist in its search for a Marketing and Business Development Manager.

The Position:We are seeking a strategic and innovative marketing professional to oversee firm-wide marketing and business development initiatives while providing dedicated support to individual practice groups. This role is pivotal in aligning marketing efforts across the firm to drive growth, enhance brand visibility, and support targeted practice group objectives.

The Essentials:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that align with the firm's overarching goals, positioning it as a leader in the industry
  • Oversee branding, communications, and digital marketing efforts to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Identify market trends, competitive dynamics, and opportunities to enhance the firm’s visibility and market share. 
  • Collaborate with leadership to define and implement firm-wide business development initiatives.
  • Create and manage client-focused campaigns, RFP responses, and cross-practice business development opportunities.
  • Leverage market research and analytics to identify growth opportunities and refine business development strategies.
  • Partner with practice group leaders to develop tailored marketing plans and support their implementation.
  • Create targeted content, materials, and campaigns that address the unique needs of each practice area.
  • Provide strategic guidance on client retention and expansion initiatives within practice groups
  • Serve as a key liaison between marketing, business development, and other internal departments to ensure alignment of goals and resources.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including designers, PR agencies, and digital marketing firms.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to junior marketing team members.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, using data-driven insights to optimize strategies.
  • Provide regular updates and performance reports to firm leadership, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.

The Candidate:The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field, and at least seven years of marketing and/or business development experience, preferably in a professional services environment. The successful candidate will be analytical, strategic and resourceful. He/she will additionally possess:

  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic marketing plans at both a firm-wide and practice-specific level.
  • Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, CRM systems, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience with cross-practice business development initiatives and collaborative marketing efforts.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of [specific industry/legal/consulting] trends and best practices.
