DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL SYSTEMS A premier global law firm is seeking a Director of Financial Systems. Reporting to the Global Chief Financial Officer and working as a member of the global Finance team, this exempt salary position has a flexible location preferably in the Eastern time zone. The Position:Working as a member of the global Finance team, the Director of Financial Systems will play a key role in the support, administration, and maintenance of the Firm’s Finance system. The successful position holder will be responsible for the technical support, administration, maintenance, and strategic design of the Firm’s Financial Accounting System, which includes Billing, Finance and Time Entry. The Director of Financial Systems will also be responsible for assessing departmental and individual applications needs, writing scripts, customizing screens, system backup, system upgrades, and system recovery. Reporting to the Global Chief Financial officer, the Director of Financial systems will work collaboratively with colleagues within the global Finance team as well as others within Firmwide Technology, and have direct management of the current global financial systems team members. The Essentials: Provide strategic guidance for financial systems planning and implementation processes relating to Firm mergers and acquisitions. Provide systems administration, support and troubleshooting functions on the Billing, Finance, Time Entry, data warehouse, reporting and related systems. Serve as the liaison between technology teams, Firm Leadership, and end users to determine systems needs and resolve problems. Serve as the primary point-of-contact with the financial systems vendor. Supervise the installs, upgrades, and conversions, and support this system long-term beyond the installation period. Develop and administer the Firm's programs for Aderant training and assistance to end-users. Responsible for system customization (i.e., attorney inquiry screens, billing report script). Evaluate systems application needs of the various departments and practice groups and develop automation solutions. Document systems procedures, as well as technical and user references. Perform monthly maintenance procedures, systems diagnosis and upgrades to the financial system software and hardware environment. Test database applications on the network and assist Network Administrator with applications' server configurations. Respond to and resolve high level applications IT Support calls related to the Finance System. The Candidate: The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Management, or other relevant compatible curriculum; related work experience with comparable scope and responsibility, or with sufficient experience to transition into the role. Large, global law firm accounting or technology experience required. Experience in writing technical documentation required. The successful candidate will have strong leadership abilities, people and project management skills, and be highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities at the same time. He/she will additionally possess: An ability to identify and implement creative solutions to enhance productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of operations, systems, and procedures. Deep knowledge and subject matter expertise that is being constantly developed to translate into practical solutions. Exceptional communication skills that demonstrate credibility to key stakeholders in both written and verbal communication. Experience working in a large, global and matrixed organization. Self-starter approach and the ability to work autonomously, taking full ownership for work, and knowing when to consult with or get support from colleagues. Ability to work collaboratively with others and a natural flair for being able to bring people together to deliver on objectives. Positive, can-do attitude and a desire to constantly develop knowledge and capabilities.
