BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER SuiteSpot Executive Search, LLC has been retained by a premier global law firm to assist in its search for a Business Development Manager. Reporting to the Business Development Director, this is an exempt salary position located in Tampa, FL. The Position:The Business Development Manager supports the Business Group practices, working with the Practice Group Leaders and the members of these practices to define and execute business growth objectives, identify target opportunities, develop and coordinate business development plans, and work with related teams to grow the Firm’s business base. The Business Development Manager serves as a catalyst and facilitator for client expansion and targeted initiatives and utilizes creativity, tenacity, and leadership to help the leadership and members of the Practice Groups define, implement and measure sound business development and marketing strategies that will be the foundation for profitable growth. The Essentials: Work with Practice Group Leaders to support and develop the practice group business plan, including forward accountability and follow-up. Work with individual lawyers to help them develop and deliver their personal business development plans, including: Coaching on business development opportunities; Helping them pursue targets and expand relationships; Providing strategy for selecting and leveraging practice and industry conferences, seminars, speaking engagements, and participation in professional panels, and industry events. Identify market developments that may impact clients’ businesses and provide advice on effective marketing strategies. Provide primary support in preparing responses to domestic and cross-border requests for information (RFIs), requests for proposals (RFPs), and other pitches, proposals, capability statements and client-facing materials for new or expanded business. Develop in-depth knowledge of the Practice Groups, including attorney expertise, Firm experience, industry/trade group organizations, trends, and clients. Prepare and manage the BD budget for the practice groups, including planning and follow-up activities for specific projects. Work with other members of the BD&M department to ensure that the members of the practice group maximize the strategic use of the full range of print, electronic and social media tools and techniques. Prepare the practice groups’ regular work communication tools – including details of new instructions, pitches and proposals, meetings, events, and PR/Media activity as appropriate. Direct, maintain, and manage the regular updating of the practice group’s marketing materials and tools, practice and office descriptions, representative matter lists, selected matter lists and other related materials. Lead the efforts of the practice groups to secure higher rankings in select directories, awards and distinctions, and maintain responsibility for ensuring the experience of the group is captured in a timely fashion in keeping with firm-wide standards. Manage and track pitch and proposal activity for the practice groups, including updating the pitch log for all pitch/proposal activity. Work with the PR/Communications team to support media relations efforts associated with the practice groups by identifying topical issues (matters of significance on which the lawyers are working, developing client/legal trends, external news about which we may be in a position to comment, new additions to the practice, awards/distinctions, etc.) and reporter outreach. Manage and maintain the practice groups’ client contact lists and work with the Design and Digital team to manage this information within the Firm's database. The Candidate: The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications or relevant compatible curriculum. The candidate will also have eight years of business development, marketing, sales, or related experience in a professional services environment. The successful candidate will be highly organized, efficient, resourceful and will possess: Proven project management track record; Experience developing business development plans; Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; Excellent organizational and project management skills; Proven success in effectively presenting information to working group teams, top management, public groups and/or clients; The ability to prioritize and multi-task with a strong attention to detail; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills; Willingness to work a flexible schedule and the hours needed to accomplish the Firm’s expectations.
