Summit Technologies Inc. has an opportunity for an AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer.In this role, you will further develop the AWS Infrastructure environment to support the Application Development teams, decompose and migrate existing legacy applications into an optimized micro-services based cloud environment.Additionally, you will support the end-to-end public Cloud Automation of application delivery, including Infrastructure provisioning and integration with Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) platforms. This full time position is located in Providence, RI and also offers 2 days of telework.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and develop the platform as a service and application hosting environment, to align with business strategies and requirements
  • Determine technical standards and specifications which will lead the design, build and support of shared services cloud platform components
  • Design, implement, and support secure solutions for cloud operations on AWS.
  • Create Amazon Machine Images
  • Research and integrate third-party tools into the Cloud platform to support business needs
  • Facilitate the adoption of Cloud Services and assist internal clients with refactoring for Cloud
  • Work closely with all stakeholders to devise solutions to satisfy agreed-to business objectives
  • Perform technical assessment of current state of legacy systems
  • Participate in Technology & Business Roadmap for Micro-Services Transformation
  • Coordinate with customers on the design, build and production readiness of infrastructure solutions and the development of business cases
  • Collaborate with other solutions designers to develop a standardized services catalog in ServiceNow (ITSM platform) to frontend the automated solutions
  • Design and build secure AWS EC2 instances based on Red Hat Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions and strategies

Skills & Experience:

  • At least 8 years of application development or infrastructure engineering experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience in AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineering and migration skills
  • Experience with AWS services technologies and practices, building applications using services such as AWS EC2, ECS, IAM, Lambda, EMR, CloudFormation
  • Expert level understanding across Cloud Infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications) to deliver end to end Cloud Infrastructure architecture and designs
  • Demonstrated experience with continuous integration & continuous delivery practices
  • Solid understanding of architecture framework implementation in Enterprise IT elements such asoperation, security, reliability, performance efficiency and cost optimization
  • Experience with web, event driven, caching, batch architectures, designing systems for high throughput, low latency, high availability and fault tolerance
  • Expert level experience with AWS cloud platform (both traditional EC2 and serverless Lambda), microservices architecture, CI/CD solutions (including Docker), DevOps principles, message queue systems, and background task management
  • Knowledge on transforming a legacy monolithic application to a microservice based application
  • Experience in performing technical assessment of current state of legacy systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microservices architectures and object oriented analysis and design
  • Experience working on legacy Java EE / JMS based systems
  • Experience working with containers, Docker, Kubernetes or other container schedulers
  • Demonstrated cluster management knowledge and experience using platforms including - Docker Swarm, Kubernetes or Apache Mesos
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with System integrations using messaging including or similar to Kafka / RabbitMQ
  • Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD (Jenkins), VCS (Git) and build (Gradle) systems
  • Solid understanding of the API management and gateway solution
  • Work experience in any NoSQL database such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or others
  • Experience with scripting tools / languages (javascript, perl, shell scripting, Python, Node.js, Kinesis, EC2, S3, RDS, ElastiCache)
  • Experience in high availability, load balancing, elasticity , disaster recovery solutions, replication, and automation technologies
  • Experience working on continuous integration systems like Concourse or Jenkins, particularly in deploying and managing infrastructure
  • Experience with modern source control software such as Git or SVN.
  • Experience with various operating systems – UNIX, Linux, Windows

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of additional IT work experience in lieu of degree
