Our non-profit client is seeking a Controller to join their accounting function to manage their daily accounting and reporting functions and provide supervision over the staff. This position offers a rare chance to join a stable organization with plans for project-based expansion. The Controller will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

• Oversee the general accounting functions and supervise, train, and develop staff
• Assist with the month-end close process with heavy involvement with review of account reconciliations and related analysis
• Review the daily operational accounting transactions – accounts receivable and payable - for the business unit
• Manage business related taxes (e.g. sales & use, property, and payroll) and identify opportunities for savings and compliance
• Provide operational accounting guidance and support to the team and proactively engage in accounting related areas whenever possible
• Assist with upcoming project-based initiatives and monitor related finances
• Participate in ad-hoc accounting and finance projects

The qualified Controller will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. The Controller will be a self-starter who is capable of independent problem solving and proactive execution of assigned tasks. It is highly preferred that the Controller have prior experience working within a 501c3 environment and familiar with non-profit accounting. The Controller must possess a collaborative, team-oriented, humble, and positive personality and should be comfortable moving between various tasks and confident in their ability to attack new challenges head on.
