We are looking for a Staff Accountant to work closely with our CEO and CFO and to support the continued growth in both of our entities. This is a rare opportunity to expand your accounting skills into an industry with specific and unique requirements. There will be the usual tasks of QuickBooks management, monthly, quarterly, and year end duties, banking and credit card management, traditional payroll, payables, receivables, etc. Due to the nature of how advisors are compensated, a big part of this role is the coordination, reconciliation and management of advisor payouts. Additionally, there will be an element of financial planning and analysis to support leadership in their decision-making, as acquisition opportunities arise, in determining market viability, and elsewhere. We are willing to train in our industry if you bring natural curiosity, strong desire to learn, impeccable follow through abilities, and initiative. After the training and adaptation period, this role will hold a lot of responsibility and autonomy. There is a clear growth path for this role, and we are looking for the person that wants to climb that ladder with us!

You are going to be tech savvy, with advanced level skills in QuickBooks and Excel, plus a strong desire to leverage technology in every way possible. You are an adopter of change, always willing to help, and never afraid to make suggestions that may help the firm. You are naturally curious, and you are capable of identifying efficiency gaps and executing on improvement. You are proactive and able to help the company steer clear of landmines. You will have impeccable detail orientation abilities and an unwavering ability to figure things out, even with little to no direction. You are collaborative, and also have the confidence and ability to be persistent when needed.

Primary Role Responsibilities:

  • QuickBooks Management: Review, categorize, and organize transactions in QuickBooks; Month and year end closing: Produce P&L and Balance Sheet reports; Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Accounts Payable: Process incoming bills and credit card charges; ensure timely payments to vendors and service providers
  • Banking and Credit Cards: Review daily balances and make necessary adjustments
  • Accounts Receivables and Commissions: Process and record all commissions and bonuses
  • Advisor Payments: Calculate and process all advisors’ commissions, bonuses, and update all related records in CRM’s
  • Projections: Prepare income and expense projections
  • Payroll Reporting: Prepare and report payroll to our payroll provider
  • Budgeting Assistance: Assist in updating budgets and monitor financial performance against goals
  • Taxes: File Quarterly Tax Estimates; prepare list of 1099’s to be issued; check 1099’s received; ensure accuracy of all information to be given to tax preparer
  • Insurance and Benefits: Work with our brokers and carriers providing our employee benefits and perform annual audits
  • Data Management: Oversee various platforms such as industry-specific Customer Relationship Management (CRM’s) softwares

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a similar financial role
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks required
  • Proficiency in Excel required
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Familiarity with financial services industry practices is a plus
  • Intermediate-Advanced level proficiency in other Microsoft Office tools
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong desire to contribute to key business decisions and provide valuable insights
  • Reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, STD, LTD and 401K, PTO, 10 holidays, and schedule flexibility after your training period




Compensation: $65K - $85K DOE
