Position Overview
Targeted HR Consulting is recruiting a Project Engineer to join a growing Newark-based team focused on land development and municipal infrastructure projects. This full-time, in-office role offers the chance to lead complex civil engineering designs and work across markets including public works, private development, and utilities.
We're seeking a confident professional with at least 8 years of experience, strong technical acumen, and the ability to mentor junior staff while coordinating multidisciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple land development and municipal projects, maintaining schedules and budgets
Serve as primary client contact, including attending regular meetings and supporting proposals
Prepare technical design drawings, specifications, and reports from schematic through construction
Oversee permitting processes with local and state regulatory agencies
Guide and mentor junior engineers and drafters on stormwater, utility, and erosion control design
Coordinate tasks across engineering disciplines and monitor deliverables for quality and timeliness
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
8+ years of professional experience in civil/site design or land development
Professional Engineer (PE) license in NJ (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Strong working knowledge of site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion control, and permitting
Proficient with engineering design tools (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred) and office software (MS Office 365, Adobe, etc.)
Strong communication and leadership skills
Local candidates only – relocation is not provided
Must be authorized to work in the US without work visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as CME, CFM, or PP
Project management or multi-discipline coordination experience
Familiarity with Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools
Experience using Bluebeam Revu
