Remote Contract Opportunity

Part-Time to Full-Time

(We are seeking qualified Curriculum Development Editors for anticipated 1099 contract roles. The openings are expected in the near future and after successful completion of the contract there may be an opportunity to transition into an employee position.)

Are you an experienced development editor with excellent attention to detail and project management skills? Can you take complex subject matter and make it compelling, informative, and guide students to success?

If so, Soomo Learning invites you to apply to join their team in radically improving the college course experience for tens of thousands of students each year.

About Soomo Learning

Since 2004 we have been partnering with institutions to develop high-quality, customizable, interactive digital textbooks for higher education. Our founding mission is to “create resources that work better and cost less than a traditional textbook.” Our webtexts help students mentally engage via questions - hundreds of thoughtfully designed, tested, and revised formative assessment opportunities that encourage comprehension, analysis, and evaluation. Because this requires much more than simply changing a textbook, we at Soomo focus on improving student outcomes through collaboration with faculty, data-informed iteration, and careful attention to the challenges of learning. Today we have become an organization built to uncover the teaching strategies and technical tools that will best enable student success in any given course.

About the Role

The Curriculum Development Editor is responsible for developing custom webtexts and effectively managing the development process. Leading this process requires a deep understanding of both the content itself and the challenges of teaching a general education course to non-majors. Overall responsibilities include content analysis, learning strategy design, course mapping, the composition of content, questions, and assessments, project management, and ongoing analysis of student performance and faculty support. In this role, you will give special attention to the needs of online and at-risk learners who benefit greatly from the inclusion of student success elements and frequent self-checks.

Your goal is to ensure every student who completes the work succeeds in the course. Our ideal candidate is a learning designer at heart - constantly thinking about the goal for student learning and how can we more clearly focus the learning experience around it. In addition, you must be a strong, experienced writer who creates clear, engaging questions and content.
