Team Red Dog is seeking a Software QA & Release Management Specialist to support a Fortune 100 technology leader on a highly confidential, high-impact initiative focused on testing and delivering next-generation prototype hardware devices tightly integrated with the Microsoft ecosystem, including Copilot. This onsite role in Redmond, WA offers hands-on exposure to early-stage hardware, real-world validation workflows, and a program prioritized by senior leadership—ideal for QA professionals looking to work at the intersection of software, hardware, and cutting-edge innovation.

Top Required Skills (Must Haves):

  1. 3+ years of manual Quality Assurance experience, including writing detailed test plans, executing test cases on real hardware, and validating functional, regression, and acceptance testing results.
  2. 1+ year of familiarity with software release management, including coordinating releases across environments, managing release notes, and tracking builds and branches in source control systems.
  3. 2+ years of experience collaborating closely with senior software engineering leadership to communicate defects, quality risks, and testing outcomes clearly and effectively.

Opportunity Overview:
This role supports on-site testing of prototype devices within an Applied Sciences organization, working directly with early-stage hardware and software builds that are shaping a new Microsoft-integrated device experience. Due to the confidential nature of the project, details are limited prior to onboarding—but the work is highly visible, technically engaging, and directly influences product quality before release.

How you will make an impact:
• Formulate, document, and execute comprehensive test plans based on requirements and specifications.
• Perform functional, regression, and acceptance testing on prototype hardware devices.
• Log, track, validate, and regress defects using Azure DevOps.
• Reproduce bugs, gather logs, identify duplicates, and escalate quality risks.
• Report testing progress, quality metrics, and risks to engineering and program stakeholders.
• Collaborate with PMs and technical leads to plan, coordinate, and verify software releases.
• Manage release notes, track multiple git branches and builds, and support release ring publishing.
• Coordinate deployments, post-release validation, and issue resolution activities.
• Install software builds on prototype devices and perform smoke testing to confirm functionality.
• Maintain accurate device records, including serial numbers and administrative details.

The expertise you bring:
• 3+ years of hands-on QA or software testing experience.
• Experience working with prototype hardware or device-based testing environments.
• Familiarity with software release management processes and tooling.
• Ability to work fully onsite in a secure lab environment five days per week.
• Strong technical foundation with comfort navigating logs, builds, and defect workflows.

What makes a candidate highly successful in this role:
• Executes detailed test plans with precision and documents results clearly and consistently.
• Communicates findings effectively to engineering teams with actionable recommendations.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple test cycles in parallel.
• Adapts quickly to changing priorities and evolving program needs.
• Thrives in highly collaborative, fast-moving, and confidential environments.
