Team Red Dog is seeking a Software Engineer – Hardware & Windows Security to work with a Fortune 100 technology leader on the security foundations of modern Windows devices. This role sits deep in the platform stack, designing and building secure boot, TPM, firmware, cryptographic services, and OS-level protections that ship to millions of devices worldwide. Based hybrid in Redmond, WA, you’ll work hands-on with low-level Windows code, firmware, and Microsoft’s Pluton security chipset—solving complex, security-critical problems that directly shape the trust model of the Windows hardware ecosystem.

This role supports the development of next-generation Windows hardware security features that protect millions of devices worldwide. The team works at the intersection of operating systems, firmware, cryptography, and silicon, contributing directly to the security foundation of modern Windows laptops and Microsoft Surface devices. Engineers in this role gain deep exposure to trusted boot, TPM implementations, and Microsoft’s Pluton security chipset while influencing how secure computing evolves at scale.
How you will make an impact:
• Participate in daily sprint execution, design discussions, and engineering syncs
• Design, implement, and test low-level Windows boot and security components
• Develop firmware and software for Windows boot processes and security processors
• Implement and maintain TPM drivers and cryptographic functionality
• Write, review, and debug security-critical code across OS, firmware, and driver layers
• Contribute to feature development for next-generation Windows device security
• Perform unit testing, system testing, and post-implementation validation
• Troubleshoot complex issues across new and legacy production systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional hardware, firmware, and OS engineering teams
The expertise you bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field
• 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong foundation in computer science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design
• Experience with large-scale systems software design and development
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting, debugging, and unit testing low-level systems
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex security and system-level issues

• Prior hands-on experience specifically in hardware and platform security domains
• Deep understanding of Windows internals, firmware, drivers, and boot processes
• Strong working knowledge of cryptographic principles and secure code implementation
• Comfort discussing security architecture decisions and tradeoffs in depth
• Experience working with specialized hardware, prototypes, or secure lab environments
