Business Systems Analyst

Team Red Dog - Redmond, WA, United States

Team Red Dog is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our client’s team and support high-impact government cloud projects. In this role, you’ll focus on building data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting solutions that ensure parity between sovereign and commercial cloud environments. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your skills in Power BI, Kusto, and Azure DevOps to drive meaningful insights and reporting solutions in a fast-paced, highly visible area.

Top Required Skills (Must Haves):

  1. Power BI (5–7 years) – Hands-on experience with semantic models, applications, workspaces, dashboards, and reporting.
  2. Kusto (KQL), Cosmos, and SQL (5–7 years) – Building queries, managing large data sources, and integrating reporting solutions.
  3. Azure DevOps (ADO) and Excel (5–7 years) – Creating reporting pipelines and dashboards using data from ADO for release management and tracking.

Opportunity Overview:

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a unique area of Microsoft’s business—sovereign cloud parity and release management. You’ll build critical reporting and data solutions that directly impact government cloud projects, while working in a collaborative environment that combines research, coding, and solution design.

How you will make an impact:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and align technology solutions with business strategies.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards, semantic models, and reports using Kusto and Cosmos DB data sources.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines for parity management and release management reporting.
  • Serve as a liaison between business teams and IT, ensuring accurate translation of business needs into technical solutions.
  • Conduct cost-benefit and ROI analyses to inform system implementation decisions.
  • Provide ongoing functional support for applications and reporting solutions.
  • Work as a member of multiple project teams, contributing technical expertise and data insights.

The expertise you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in business systems analysis or a related role.
  • Strong background in business intelligence and data warehousing, with advanced Power BI expertise.
  • Solid understanding of programming concepts to read and interpret code.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and business processes.
  • Project management skills to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across technical and business teams.

What makes a candidate highly successful in this role:

Successful candidates consistently deliver on commitments and demonstrate reliability (“say-do ratio”). They bring a strong track record of building high-quality Power BI dashboards, integrating multiple data sources, and producing actionable reporting solutions. They excel at balancing heads-down coding with effective collaboration, especially during requirements gathering and solution design.
