Our client, a global technology leader, is looking for a Research Operations Program Manager to support the User Research team. Top Required Skills (Must Haves):
- Technical Proficiency: Strong familiarity with Microsoft Azure and SharePoint, including setting up virtual machines, managing tenant access, and maintaining knowledge repositories.
- Program Management Experience: 5+ years of experience in program/project/operations management, with exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting newsletters, updating content, and collaborating with team members across multiple levels of an organization.
Opportunity Overview:
This role is part of a User Research/UX Research team within the Experience and Devices division. The team includes 70-80 researchers who collaborate with product groups working on Microsoft 365 products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Loop, and Copilot. The ResOps PM will provide critical support in research operations, tool management, communication, and technical tasks to enable the team to deliver impactful research.
The role offers variety, from setting up research tools and drafting newsletters to managing SharePoint content and troubleshooting technical issues. It is an excellent fit for someone who enjoys helping others, thrives in fast-paced environments, and has strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Research Tools Management:
- Assign research tool licenses to team members and track usage.
- Pull monthly usage reports, analyze trends, and recommend investment areas to leadership.
- Meet quarterly with research tool vendors to review product roadmaps and discuss team needs.
- Organize training sessions for the team on available research tools.
- Support capacity planning and budget tracking during the fiscal year.
Knowledge Management:
- Maintain and update the team’s knowledge management infrastructure, including SharePoint sites (Working Folders, Hub) and HITS (research insights repository).
- Create new templates and content, manage user permissions, and troubleshoot technical issues.
Azure Support:
- Request and set up virtual machines (VMs) and tenants in Microsoft Azure for confidential internal (CI) research projects.
- Assist researchers with virtual machine access and manage capacity, adding additional VMs as needed.
Communications:
- Draft and maintain content for the internal team Hub SharePoint site.
- Write bi-monthly newsletter articles summarizing previously published research.
Onboarding and Offboarding:
- Update onboarding materials as needed.
- Collaborate with the Business Manager and Executive Admin to coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities.
Ad Hoc Projects:
- Participate in or lead special projects as needs arise.
Qualifications/Experience:
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in program management, project management, or operations roles.
- Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to pick up new information and learn processes quickly.
- Experience navigating ambiguity and locating the right experts or information independently.
- Proficiency with SharePoint and core Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms).
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to issues and solutions.
Preferred:
- Prior experience at Microsoft or working in the tech industry, particularly with UX research teams or in research operations.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure, including setting up virtual machines and managing tenant access.
