Group M&A Director

The Opportunity:

  • Division of Fortune 1000 manufacturer
  • Newly-created role reporting to Group President
  • Directly generate and manage small to midmarket M&A deal flow
  • Broad scope of activity and responsibility throughout the deal lifecycle

 

What You'll Do: 

You will source potential opportunities and assist the Group President with successful execution of acquisitions. You’ll hold primary responsibility for vital communication and coordination of all aspects of the deal process, from lead generation through due diligence to closing and follow through. There is excellent long term career potential although this should not be perceived as just a stepping stone position.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with the Group’s acquisition strategies, targets and criteria
  • Coordinate Group-level, Operating Company and external resources necessary for identification, evaluation and execution of acquisition opportunities
  • Directly coordinate the acquisition prospecting process including
    • direct contact with potential acquisition targets
    • regular interaction/meetings with internal resources
    • nurturing of external relationships with bankers, brokers and intermediaries
  • Lead evaluation of prospective acquisitions, including the due diligence process, negotiate contracts and terms, ensure post-closing activities are completed
  • Participate in annual Growth & Strategy conference

 

The Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or similar is required; MBA helpful
  • 7-10 years total work experience including meaningful experience in consulting or investment banking firm with manufacturing clients
  • Direct, relevant experience in M&A, including experience in conducting financial due diligence and preparing valuation models
  • High level of initiative, energy and drive with a willingness to do the work of prospecting, relationship building and follow up
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hunter approach – you’ll “do what it takes” without ego getting in the way
  • Effective communicator with high emotional intelligence and good judgement – you can understand the unique perspectives of business owners and segment leadership and provide meaningful insights to support important decisions
  • Adaptable - you can manage multiple projects or responsibilities smoothly and thrive on the varying intensity of the deal flow
  • Local candidates strongly preferred although relocation assistance is available for the right candidate
