Loan Operations Manager


Reports to: Director of Operations


 The Loan Operations Manager is responsible for managing a team of individuals that support the commercial, real estate, and consumer loan processing needs. This includes managing the day-to-day loan processing performance, developing quality and compliance standards, and providing coaching and development for staff. This will include processing all phases of the loan documentation process from application to closing while providing excellent internal and external customer service.

This position requires a thorough knowledge of regulations and compliance related to commercial, consumer and mortgage lending and the associated internal policies and procedures.

The Loan Operations Manager works collaboratively with commercial relationship staff, retail bankers, loan servicing, compliance, and other bank departments to promote efficient and correct workflow and help create a productive, team-oriented work environment that leads to customer service excellence.

Principal Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Identifies and implements ways to increase efficiency and/or leverage technology to drive productivity up and/or drive costs down and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and third-party reporting. Successfully interacts with department staff to improve accuracies and efficiencies.
  • Reviews loan setup and maintenance process with the goal to reduce and/or eliminate exceptions or errors upfront.
  • Effectively supervises, motivates, and utilizes department staff to create an efficient workflow for the loan servicing function while ensuring that individuals are cross trained, and internal controls are maintained according to the Bank’s policies and department’s procedures.

o Ordering title work, requesting and filing needed paperwork related to insurance information, flood certification, UCC’s (Uniform Commercial Code), and tax information; inputting, maintaining, and filing HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act) data; and reviewing loan information in front-end system for accuracy and uploading information into core system.

o Ordering and reviewing property appraisals and evaluations and maintaining appraisal tracking log in compliance with the Interagency Appraisal Guidelines.

o Preparing loan closing documentation for all approved loan products, and add-on services using the loan origination system.

  • Works with system providers to utilize technology to fullest capacity, streamlining processes and procedures, while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assists with core and loan system parameters and design to meet the needs of the department.
  • Maintains an active knowledge base of all the Bank’s loan products and the Bank’s Loan Policy and procedures. Completes all required training assigned, in a timely manner, and complies with all regulations and policies when performing the responsibilities of the position.
