FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Required:
· 2–5 years administering Atlassian Data Center products (Jira/Confluence)
· Strong Linux system administration and shell scripting (Bash)
· Familiarity with reverse proxies (Apache/Nginx), SSL certs, JVM tuning
· Experience with application upgrades, plugin compatibility management, and staging-to-prod promotion
· Knowledge of system performance monitoring, log management, and disaster recovery principles
Desired:
· RHCSA or equivalent Linux certification (Red Hat-based systems)
· Experience maintaining clustered environments (e.g., HAProxy, Hazelcast)
· Knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar databases used with Jira
· Exposure to automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD)
· Experience managing SSO/SAML integrations (e.g., Keycloak, miniOrange)
· Understanding of backups, snapshots, and high availability architecture
Bonus:
· Experience in FedRAMP/DoD or secure/air-gapped environments
· Monitoring and alerting setup using ELK stack, Prometheus, or Splunk
· Experience managing Atlassian plugin lifecycle (Marketplace, manual installs, license files)

Role Objectives
· Maintain Jira/Confluence in a stable, secure, and performant state
· Coordinate with developers and admins for plugin rollout and version compatibility
· Own log-level troubleshooting, system patching, and upgrade cycles
· Ensure system observability, backup integrity, and uptime targets
SKILLSET:
The Atlassian Systems Admin is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing the backend infrastructure that powers our Jira and Confluence Data Center instances. This role ensures system reliability, manages upgrades, and supports integrations, all while enabling a high-performance environment for our development and operational teams.
The candidate will possess and maintain the required skills to include, but not limited to:
Candidate shall have 2 to 5 years of experience administering Atlassian Data Center products, specifically Jira and Confluence. The ideal individual will have a strong background in Linux system administration and be proficient in shell scripting using Bash. Familiarity with reverse proxies such as Apache or Nginx, along with experience managing SSL certificates and tuning the JVM for performance is essential. Candidates should also have hands-on experience with application upgrades, managing plugin compatibility, and promoting changes from staging to production environments. A solid understanding of system performance monitoring, log management practices, and disaster recovery principles are also required for success in this role.
