CMT Project Manager PE

Our client is one of the leading IQF firms in the United States with several large OVTI projects running throughout the United States.  They are a rapidly growing organization that has worked on very large design-build projects in the nation. 

Key Technical Responsibilities

Operation Supervision

  • Coordinate and manage the field and laboratory testing operations of construction materials ensuring that field and laboratory testing services are performed in a safe manner and consistent with company quality protocols, project requirements and in a timely manner.
  • Plan and schedule daily CMT operations and dispatch technicians to projects.
  • Supervises the administrative systems of the laboratory and field testing operations to ensure that reports, proposals, invoices, and information required to serve the client are properly prepared and reported.
  • Ensure that laboratory and field technicians follow company administrative policies including, but not limited to, time sheets, expense reports and purchase order requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to laboratory and field technicians and perform troubleshooting to resolve quality issues in the field.
  • Review testing records performed by assigned construction engineering technicians to assure compliance with requirements of established procedures.
  • Report and communicate of construction non-conformance to Clients and assist in resolutions.

If needed, perform laboratory and field testing of soil, base, aggregate, Portland cement concrete, asphaltic concrete and masonry in accordance with established procedures and the standard methods established by AASHTO, ASTM, TxDOT or other agency with appropriate, properly calibrated testing equipment.

Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing reports on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures.

Laboratory Quality Management & Training

  • Oversee calibration and maintenance of field and laboratory testing equipment, tools and gauges, and maintain and update equipment inventory and calibration records.
  • Supervise the efficient utilization of facilities and equipment assigned to his or her area and makes requests for additional equipment and facilities as needed to meet the client’s demands.
  • Plan, coordinate, plan and conduct the training of construction inspectors, and laboratory & field technicians.
  • Mentor and train construction engineering inspectors and technicians on inspection, sampling and testing procedures.
  • Evaluate the performance of inspectors and technicians and assists them in their professional development and growth, consistent with company policies and procedures.

RSO and Safety Management

  • Serve as the HSE Coordinator leading safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines.
  • Assist the Corporate HSE Manager in reporting and investigating safety incidents.
  • Lead pre-task safety planning for all projects.
  • Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Serve as the Fleet Vehicle Coordinator managing fleet vehicles assigned to his or her operations.

Business Development/Administration

  • Assist Management during the preparation of proposals and cost estimates for CMT services to ensure a proper scoping of services, availability of manpower, and appropriate pricing to render a profit.
  • Provide supplemental operating policies and procedures unique to the laboratory to ensure that the testing services are accomplished consistently with quality protocol and in an orderly and efficient manner.

Basic/Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.

Professional Engineering License in the state of Texas. Or have the ability to transfer your PE to Texas.

Minimum 15 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.

Certified in Radiation Safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.

A valid Driver’s License is required.

Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times.

Ability to prepare reports and documentation.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required

Must pass a drug test, physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
