Medical Science Liaison, Hematology , (Midwest)

Serving as a field-based extension of The Company’s Medical Affairs, the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will represent the Company and their investigational compound for the treatment of hematological malignancies.

The MSL will build long term peer to peer relationships with thought leaders, payers and other stakeholders specializing in hematology/ oncology treatment. The MSL will support The Company’s advancing clinical and research programs by delivering clinical, scientific, and technical education to the Hematology/Oncology community. The MSL is responsible for cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with influential members of the medical community to promote company, disease state and therapeutic awareness, in addition to serving as an advanced technical, scientific, and medical expert in the Hematology/Oncology community for the assigned region.

The MSL is responsible for developing, coordinating and assuring implementation of The Company’s corporate, scientific, and clinical strategies with these thought leaders within academic, clinical, and healthcare organizations. These scientific exchanges will support and/or expand current therapeutic concepts, as well as ensure the safe and effective utilization of The Company’s product(s).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with key investigators and institutions strategic to the effective use of company products.
  • Participates in medical education for healthcare professionals, including formulary committees, through presentations at appropriate venues.
  • Facilitates the identification of medical community training and educational needs for product introduction. Works with the appropriate departments to ensure required education and training are provided.
  • Increases The Company’s visibility with current and future industry leaders. Identifies clinical research opportunities that are consistent with company objectives. Enhances professional interaction between The Company and industry leaders.
  • Key contact for investigators for the initiation of ISS.
  • Provides investigators with technical support for study development.
  • Identifies and communicates key clinical and research issues from industry leaders to appropriate departments to help shape company research, development, marketing plans and strategies.
  • Maintains clinical expertise through aggressive education including attendance at relevant conferences, scientific workshops and review of key journals.


  • An advanced degree required (Pharm D, PhD or MD) preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years previous MSL experience required
  • A Minimum of 2 years of clinical or research experience in the area of Hematology or Oncology preferred
  • Clinical trial development experience is required
  • Ability to travel, locally and regionally, up to 50% with overnight stays (e.g., KOL meetings, site locations, internal meetings, medical meetings and congresses, training)
  • Experience working with payers of formulary committees strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of FDA requirements and PhRMA Code, including regulations governing compliant scientific exchange
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and work in cross functional network/matrix
  • Demonstrated project management ability
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license
