Position Summary: The Project Engineer for Land Development will oversee the technical and operational aspects of land development projects, ensuring that each phase is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable regulations. This role requires expertise in engineering, design, construction, and project management, with a strong focus on land development processes such as site preparation, infrastructure, and environmental considerations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Design:

    • Collaborate with architects, urban planners, and environmental engineers to design land development projects.
    • Review and analyze project plans, proposals, and specifications to ensure that they comply with regulatory standards, zoning laws, and environmental requirements.
    • Prepare and evaluate feasibility studies, including land use, infrastructure needs, and cost estimates.
  2. Coordination and Communication:

    • Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication throughout the project.
    • Schedule and lead project meetings to discuss progress, address issues, and develop solutions.
    • Provide technical advice and direction to project teams, contractors, and consultants.
  3. Construction Oversight:

    • Oversee the construction of infrastructure such as roads, utilities, drainage systems, and other site improvements.
    • Monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
    • Address and resolve any engineering or construction challenges that arise during project execution.
  4. Budget and Resource Management:

    • Develop and manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure projects are completed within budget.
    • Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, and resources necessary for successful project execution.
  5. Regulatory Compliance and Permitting:

    • Ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained from local government agencies and environmental authorities.
    • Work with legal and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with zoning laws, environmental regulations, and land-use policies.
  6. Risk Management and Quality Control:

    • Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement risk management practices.
    • Implement quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of construction and engineering are maintained.
  7. Environmental and Sustainability Focus:

    • Ensure that sustainable practices are integrated into the land development process, considering environmental impacts and long-term viability.
    • Work on stormwater management, erosion control, and environmental restoration as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred or in progress.
  • 3-5 years of experience in land development, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of local zoning laws, environmental regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Working Conditions:

  • Office and field-based work environments.
  • Occasional travel to construction sites.
  • May require extended hours during peak project phases.
