What You’ll Do

  • Lead estimating for mid- to large-scale DOT/highway projects: roads, bridges, earthwork, concrete flatwork, structures, and utilities
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis using HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and scheduling software
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and chief estimator to define full project scope and requirements
  • Prepare complete, accurate bid packages, including phased schedules and risk-adjusted cost projections
  • Analyze historical data, market trends, and subcontractor/vendor pricing to optimize competitiveness
  • Mentor junior estimators and coordinating staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team
  • Support preconstruction planning with production input and constructability review
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT regulations, industry standards, and best practices

What We’re Looking For

  • 7–10+ years estimating experience in heavy highway construction
  • Proven experience leading mid- to large-scale DOT project bids
  • DOT experience required; GDOT experience preferred
  • Hands-on with takeoffs, cost analysis, and comprehensive bid preparation
  • Strong command of HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and project scheduling software
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and DOT project requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously with precision and accuracy
  • Leadership and mentoring experience with junior estimators and support staff
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and accountable
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience preferred
