Summary
The CMM Technician oversees inspection activities and operates/programs CMM equipment to gather dimensional data, perform quality checks, and generate measurement reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional checks using checking fixtures as per control plans.
- Validate and verify production tools, including check fixtures and manual gauges.
- Identify and report non-conformances to Quality or Manufacturing Engineers.
- Conduct root cause analysis for process variation and recommend corrective actions.
- Verify dimensional control and support process performance metrics such as Pp and PpK.
- Calibrate and repair fixtures, measuring equipment, and gauges.
- Conduct Gage R&R studies for new projects and verify compliance with Red Rabbit standards.
- Interpret CAD data, tolerances, and GD&T to evaluate part quality.
- Suggest improvements to design, processes, and equipment.
- Maintain adherence to safety and quality protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and PPE requirements.
- Support compliance with quality and environmental management systems (IATF/ISO).
- Keep the work area clean and organized to prevent hazards.
- Perform other duties as needed to meet organizational goals.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in part measurement and inspection within a manufacturing setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in reading micrometers, gauges, blueprints, and CAD data.
- Basic knowledge of GD&T principles and measurement tools.
- Experience with CMM software required.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and mechanical skills.
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Gage Trak is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
