Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our Land Development team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional who holds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or a Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in land development projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. This role will provide exposure to the full lifecycle of land development projects, from conceptual design to construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and development of residential, commercial, and mixed-use land development projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility design, and road infrastructure.
  • Support the preparation of detailed site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, and stormwater management plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering reports, cost estimates, and construction documents.
  • Collaborate with project teams to review project requirements, resolve design challenges, and ensure compliance with local regulations and codes.
  • Conduct field surveys, site assessments, and inspections to verify existing site conditions and ensure design accuracy during construction.
  • Perform hydrological modeling for stormwater design, including floodplain analysis and runoff calculations.
  • Assist with the preparation of permit applications and coordination with local municipalities, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Work with architects, landscape architects, and other engineers to ensure design coordination and integration of systems.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, reports, and contract documents.
  • Support project management tasks, including schedule tracking, coordination, and client communication.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in land development and civil engineering practices.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or a Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil engineering (or the ability to obtain within 1-2 years).
  • Basic understanding of land development processes, including site planning, grading, drainage, and utility design.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or other related tools.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to land development, including zoning laws, stormwater management requirements, and environmental compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in design.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship experience in land development or civil engineering.
  • Familiarity with stormwater management tools and design software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM).
  • Understanding of environmental and sustainability principles in land development.
  • Experience with GIS software for mapping and site analysis.
  • Familiarity with project management and scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
