We are seeking a dynamic Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to lead plant-level EHS initiatives and elevate our programs to the next level. Key Responsibilities:
Promote and support safe work practices in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Serve as a subject matter expert on OSHA and EPA compliance.
Lead or support investigations for incidents (injuries, near misses, environmental issues), perform root cause analyses, and recommend corrective/preventative actions.
Conduct risk and hazard assessments to identify exposures and recommend mitigation strategies.
Maintain and continuously improve safety monitoring and recordkeeping systems to ensure full compliance.
Collaborate with operations and corporate safety teams to identify proactive safety strategies and project plans.
Coordinate and lead the Plant Safety Committee, drive action plans, and report progress to plant leadership.
Facilitate EHS training for plant employees and ensure ongoing compliance with training requirements.
Maintain documentation and reporting (e.g., OSHA 300 logs, inspections, work notifications).
Support Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and other facility improvement initiatives.
Enhance environmental data management systems and ensure full regulatory compliance at all levels.
Manage industrial process wastewater discharge to meet permit requirements and prevent contamination.
Oversee proper onsite handling and offsite disposal of all waste streams; drive reduction, reuse, and recycling efforts.
Assist in air permitting evaluations and abatement strategy development.
Support and report on all EHS-related metrics, ensuring timely communication and documentation.
Provide support for workers' compensation claims and serve as the training coordinator for all EHS training platforms.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Formal safety training (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, Occupational Safety & Health certifications).
Minimum 7 years of experience in EHS within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Must meet one or more of the following:
Served as the primary EHS leader at a facility for 3+ years.
Recognized as a subject matter expert in a key EHS area (e.g., Fall Protection, Machine Safety).
Holds relevant professional certifications (CSP, CIH, OHST, SMS, CEM, CHMM, etc.).
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and related regulatory bodies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS data/reporting tools.
Comfortable working in a plant environment including climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and exposure to varying temperatures.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and training facilitation skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving and root-cause analysis experience (RCCA, 5 Whys).
Strong leadership capabilities to implement programs and manage cross-functional initiatives.
