Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to drive business development and growth for a specific market sector within a region or business unit. This role partners closely with senior leadership to expand client opportunities, secure new business, and establish financial and operational priorities. The ideal candidate combines deep AEC industry knowledge with a proven track record in business development, client relationship management, and high-level team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Growth
Serve as the primary business development leader for the market sector, driving client acquisition and revenue growth.
Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships through frequent meetings, presentations, and strategic engagement.
Identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities by understanding client challenges and aligning services to deliver value.
Represent the company at industry events, professional society meetings, and networking opportunities to grow visibility and market share.
Lead development of proposals, manage contracts, and ensure strategic pursuit plans are executed successfully.
Leadership & Strategic Direction
Establish annual growth objectives, business plans, and tactical strategies for the sector.
Provide executive-level leadership, including budgeting, staffing, and overall performance management.
Hire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, including future leaders.
Promote a culture of accountability, client service, and innovation.
Operational & Project Oversight
Lead multi-disciplinary teams, providing oversight and technical direction on key projects.
Ensure QA/QC processes are applied to major proposals and deliverables.
Monitor performance metrics to ensure financial viability, profitability, and client satisfaction.
Foster collaboration across business units to improve efficiency and achieve organizational goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Surveying, or a related field.
15+ years of progressive experience in the AEC industry, with significant business development responsibilities.
Professional licensure preferred (PE, RLA, or PLS).
Demonstrated history of securing new clients, growing revenue, and leading high-level pursuits.
Proven success in building and motivating high-performance teams.
