We are working with a growing regional Financial Services and Banking client looking for a seasoned and strong Senior Accountant for their Corporate Accounting Team. 

Overview:

The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in the banking industry by providing high-level accounting support to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reports. This position emphasizes compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and banking regulations, ensuring that all financial records align with the strict requirements of the banking sector and relevant tax regulations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post general ledger journal entries, including month-end and accrual entries, while performing monthly and quarterly general ledger closings.
  • Manage the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy against the general ledger.
  • Maintain comprehensive books and records, supporting the administration of all inter-company affiliates.
  • Execute general accounting tasks, including the management of investments, real estate owned, and reporting activities related to interface tables.
  • Process payroll accurately and timely, using bi-weekly reports from ADP in collaboration with the HR Department.
  • Oversee the Fixed Assets ledger, ensuring that all entries are recorded promptly and accurately.
  • Reconcile and resolve discrepancies across the Bancorp's, Bank's, and subsidiaries' general ledger accounts with precision.
  • Analyze monthly general ledger variances to provide insights and manage financial performance.
  • Manage lease agreements for leased locations with a focus on compliance and accuracy.
  • Monitor the Federal Reserve Bank account daily and process securities entries into the general ledger as needed.
  • Conduct thorough research to resolve accounting-related issues, including inquiries into Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) under the direction of the Manager.
  • Serve as a backup for reconciling daily customer Repo accounts, FRB, and Correspondent Bank accounts.
  • Assist in the collection of documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) testing and collaborate with the Internal Audit department during audits.
  • Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies to reflect best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Oversee and ensure timely weekly federal reporting.
  • Provide backup support for the Accounting Manager as needed and assist in mentoring and developing team members within the accounting department.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in accounting within the banking industry, emphasizing strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in general ledger management and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in managing financial records.

This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and compliance of all financial operations within the banking entity.
