Senior Accountant – Hybrid (Bethesda, MD)

Our client, a well-established and growing financial services firm, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This role offers high visibility with leadership, hybrid flexibility, and the opportunity to make a direct impact within a dynamic finance environment.

Location: Bethesda, MD (hybrid: 2 days/week onsite)
Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens and Green Card holders only

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operational accounting including journal entries, bank reconciliations, revenue recognition, and financial statement preparation.

  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including GL reconciliations and audit support.

  • Reconcile cash collections, loan activity, and system interfaces between the proprietary servicing platform and the general ledger.

  • Contribute to the design and refinement of accounting processes, including system implementations, automation, and internal controls.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally and with external consultants to support financial operations and reporting accuracy.

Ideal Profile

  • Bachelor's in Accounting (required); CPA required.

  • 4+ years of experience in accounting, ideally a mix of public (Big 4 or large regional) and private industry.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP; experience with ASC 606/842 and complex accounting environments preferred.

  • Financial services experience is a plus, especially exposure to loan accounting or securitization.

  • Prior use of Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus.

  • Excel proficiency (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, large dataset analysis).

  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
