Principal Data Scientist

This Turn2 Client is a leading software product company in the health and wellness space. This a fully remote organization, and this position can be based anywhere in the US.

We have partnered with them on a search for a Senior Data Scientist with a strong focus on advanced AI and LLM modeling to join our dynamic team. As a key leader, you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and managing state-of-the-art ML models that power personalized user experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and guide a team of data scientists and ML engineers in developing and maintaining cutting-edge ML models to deliver personalized user journeys.
  • Cultivate a collaborative and positive work environment, fostering professional growth and nurturing teamwork.
  • Enhance existing systems to optimize efficiency and speed, collaborating closely with product engineering, data engineering, and data operations teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and implement best practices for code development, DataOps/MLOps, testing, and data quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to ML model-driven features.
  • Collaborate with engineering, data science, product, and leadership teams to address critical user problems, leveraging a wide array of technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Over ten years of hands-on experience in machine learning in a production setting, with specialized expertise in NLP, personalization/ranking, and deep learning.
  • Extensive knowledge of AI architectures, ML algorithms, and generative AI and LLMs.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully developing AI/ML products from concept to deployment and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in working with centralized ML platforms supporting multiple production features/models.
  • Strong technical acumen enabling effective collaboration with engineers and ML practitioners, actively contributing to strategic discussions.
  • Outstanding written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align algorithm and product development with broader business objectives.
  • Skilled at mentoring and coaching team members to support their growth.
  • Quick and insightful problem-solving abilities, facilitating group discussions to identify solutions and establish key milestones.
  • Solid understanding of building production ML models for consumer applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent real-world experience.
