Lead Software Engineer – Cybersecurity Focus (U.S. Citizen Required)
Location: Remote or Hybrid | Type: Full-Time or Contract-to-Hire
Clearance: Must be able to pass a Tier 3 U.S. Government background investigation
A government-focused organization is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive secure software development initiatives. This individual will play a key role in technical leadership, architecture, and development of modern cloud-based applications.
Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
5+ years software development experience, including 2+ years in a lead role
Active certifications required:
ISC2 CISSP, CISM, or GSLC
CompTIA CySA+
Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) – Java SE Programmer
3+ years experience with DoD cybersecurity standards (NIST, STIGs, RMF)
Strong backend development: Java, Spring Boot, Python, Node.js, Gradle
Frontend expertise: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript; ReactJS, AngularJS, or NextJS
Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB (relational + NoSQL)
Proficient in AWS GovCloud and containerized services: Docker, EC2, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, etc.
Agile/Scrum development experience
Preferred: AWS Connect or Twilio, WebSocket APIs, ColdFusion, Google Workspace proficiency
Responsibilities:
Lead architecture and design of scalable, secure applications
Translate business/technical requirements into actionable engineering solutions
Guide teams in best practices, security compliance, and modern development frameworks
Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies aligned with long-term product goals
