We are looking for a dynamic and talented mining professional to fill a Mining Safety Lead role at our fast-growing, forward thinking mining services company headquartered in Bloomington, Indiana.

Turner Mining Group is seeking an energetic mining professional who can leverage their mining knowledge to expand upon our fast-growing business, creating best practices for project management and scalable business processes to ensure profitable operations. This person will function as a Safety Lead, overseeing safety operations, work directly with the Director of Safety, and coordinating with site leadership to ensure safety policies are met. Leadership and an ability to problem solve while ensuring mining operations remain on task with safety procedures is critical. Position Overview

The Safety Lead will be responsible for preventing site accidents and promotes health and safety awareness and education to on-site crew members. The Safety Lead will be responsible for ensuring that all on-site staff follow health and safety laws, creating policies with the Director of Safety for a safer work environment, and ensuring all MSHA compliance is met. The Safety Lead must take measures and the initiative to identify any on-site potential hazards and improve existing site conditions.

Key Responsibilities

The Safety Lead will be responsible for risk management, preventing incidents and accidents, reporting on hazard workplace areas, assist in MSHA training, and holding a MSHA Unlimited Bluecard is important to this role. You must be knowledgeable of Turner Mining Group’s company safety policies, state and federal workplace health and safety laws, and MSHA regulations. You must also be able to assess any and all potential hazards and act safely and quickly in the event of an incident and leading communication.

Essential Skills & Knowledge

  • Must be MSHA Unlimited Instructor
  • Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures in mining/heavy civil environments
  • Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following company policies
  • Conduct accident prevention training and MSHA training
  • Inspect heavy equipment for unsafe workplace conditions
  • Monitor on-site staff for compliance to safety laws and policies
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures
  • Find, create, and suggest solutions, improvements and prevention steps for any and all safety issues
