As the Software Engineering Manager of the Accounts Team, you will report directly to the VP of Engineering while helping evolve and grow a world-class cryptocurrency exchange bringing the future of finance to emerging global markets. You will coach and mentor a diverse team of remote software engineers located primarily in the United States while collaborating with distributed teams across the globe. You will work closely with colleagues in Product, Security, Compliance, Customer Support, and other departments to discover, plan, and implement key software systems that ensure customer trust and safety. Your team will design, build, and maintain software related to authentication, authorization, account security, regulatory compliance, fraud detection, and data privacy.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Grow and manage a team of distributed, full-stack engineers
  • Coach and mentor team members on good software practices
  • Perform regular 1:1 meetings and annual performance reviews
  • Collaborate with executives and key stakeholders across our global engineering organization
  • Help set the future direction of development tools and technologies
  • Drive new initiatives and make a real impact
  • Improve our customer onboarding and compliance frameworks
  • Use your engineering experience to improve our authentication and authorization services
  • Work closely with our Trust & Safety team to build solutions to keep our customers’ data secure

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Experience managing a team of software engineers at various skill levels
  • Delegative leadership style, but with enough skill to implement a complex software system on your own
  • Team-first mindset and a strong desire to both teach and learn
  • Recent experience programming and debugging in Java or a similar programming language
  • Experience deploying production software using cloud services (preferably AWS)
  • Understanding of microservices and service-oriented architectures
  • Solid SQL and relational database skills
  • A firm grasp on application security principles and best practices
  • Understanding of how logging, telemetry, and analytics are used to operate real-time systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, from around the world
  • Comfort shifting gears and working on an evolving product without having all the answers
