Lab Technician - Medical Device

Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, primarily assist with sample receiving, check-in and sample preparations
  • Be able to execute testing and evaluation of new and existing product verification and validation activities
  • Analyze test results and contribute to determining the root cause of defects, safety risks, and performance problem
  • Interpret data and evaluate product performance to verify product specifications and requirements
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives around the lab
  • Equipment preventive maintenance
  • Work on assignments that are simple or moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations
  • Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments
  • Apply basic techniques and procedures to assigned projects
  • Responsible for performing a wide variety of research and/or development laboratory tasks and experiments
  • Make detailed observations, analyze data and interpret results
  • Maintain medical device laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies
  • Write experimental reports. May also develop and maintain record keeping for experiments performed
  • Perform limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments

Qualifications:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills such as word processing, data entry and e-mail
  • Strong documentation skills, following procedures but also being able to think outside the box and troubleshoot issues found
  • Understanding and experience with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Lab Practices (GLP)
  • Experience working in a lab
  • Experience working in a medical device lab is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Quality Control (QC) documentation
  • Proficient in Excel, Minitab and stats preferred. Able to write reports for lab notebooks
  • Very comfortable being hands-on, willing to learn, motivated, and driven
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detail orientated
  • Must have excellent written, communication, and presentation skills
  • Mechanical Skills are preferred
  • High School diploma or Associates Degree.
