Senior OR Lead Accountant

$9B SEC Energy Company Houston, TX – $90-110K for Senior, $120-140K for Lead

The Sizzle:

  • Role is fully in office – will offer relocation
  • Senior – 15% bonus, LTIP (annual RSUs grant): 12% (grants awarded in Jan each year, 3-year fully vesting cycle, one-third of each grant vests annually)
  • Lead – 20% bonus, LTIP (annual RSUs grant): 12% (grants awarded in Jan each year, 3-year fully vesting cycle, one-third of each grant vests annually)

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting and active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification. Master’s degree a plus
  • Experience: Senior Accountant: 3-5 years of applicable, progressive experience in Accounting. Lead Accountant: 8-10 years of applicable, progressive experience in Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting research
  • Knowledge of SEC interim and annual reporting

 

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Act as a subject matter expert, working with the business and others in the accounting organization to identify and resolve complex accounting issues
  • Prepare memoranda documenting the entities’ application of accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S. to specific transactions or events, which may include, but are not limited to assessments regarding revenue recognition, derivatives, nonmonetary transactions and impairment
  • Assess contracts for potential leases and determine the accounting for initial recognition of leases and any subsequent changes, if applicable (first reviewer responsibility)
  • Review contracts and finance transactions for accounting implications, including the identification of potential embedded derivatives (first reviewer responsibility)
  • Monitor U.S. standard-setters for latest accounting developments, analyze impact of new/emerging guidance/regulations on the entities and proactively develop policies to address standard adoption and implementation
  • Assist with application of guidance pertaining to stand-alone reporting entities, including notfor-profit and FERC regulated entities
  • Support the SEC Reporting function by assisting in the preparation of periodic filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, including providing information to support certain disclosure requirements for leases, fair value and cash requirements (first reviewer responsibility)
  • Ensure timely and complete delivery of any documentation required to support external and internal audits
