Financial Analyst II - Operations Finance | Cost & Inventory Analysis

2 Positions - Inventory & Reverse Logistics (Supply Chain | Operations Finance) with exceptional Growth and Upside Potential!

Our client is a rapidly growing Start-up consumer technology company with vision and great potential of IPO and global footprint. Our firm is privileged to partner with this Amazing client & opportunity to scale up, built out their Accounting & Finance department [Finance Center of Excellence - COE] in Southern California. Will initially be remote with a return to office plan.

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing!

As a passionate, hands-on Cost Accountant you will be an intricate part of the finance team owning a myriad of high-touch responsibilities, both tactical and strategic. Your work will have a broad impact, creating processes that others will follow and teaching best practices. Your focus will always be to ensure that we follow the highest levels of accuracy and compliance when it comes to our inventory balances. You will be playing an integral role in ensuring that all transactions related to inventory movement are properly recorded, from component parts to finished goods. You will partner closely with the operations team, ensuring a complete and timely reconciliation of records between us and our strategic partners. You will play a lead role in analyzing costs related to inventory, ensuring we are following appropriate GAAP standards, identifying deviations from plan and providing analysis and insight around inventory on hand and demand planning.

You will have expertise in your area, working and coordinating across multiple teams, as well as improving upon the team’s procedures. You have a strong understanding of cost accounting systems. You will analyze key financial and operating data to improve the business overall, then communicate the data and your conclusions clearly to business owners. You will be responsible for unique financial projects and understanding and operating our accounting system and e-commerce platforms. You will report to the Director of Finance, who serves as people manager for the accounting team.

Your Celebrated Qualifications:

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field

  • 3+ years was focused on cost accounting supporting a complex manufacturing and operations

  • Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of manufacturing activity such as material purchases, inventory transfers and contract manufacturing cost

  • Analyzing changes in Design changes, Bill or Material, manufacturing costs, transportation and logistics, to determine effects on cost of goods sold and gross margin

  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing actual production costs to budget and forecast

  • Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures

  • Maintaining Cost Accounting System

  • Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger

  • Support the reconciliation of physical inventories and cycle count program

  • Reconciles finished goods, return inventory, components, spares and inventories

  • You consistently produce high quality work, accurate results

  • You have a good foundation in financial reporting and GAAP accounting and can apply your knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures to solve issues that arise with skill and integrity

  • Strong Excel skills and systems skills to be able to extract and analyze data by part level

  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards

  • Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.

  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports

It Would Be Nice If:

  • You have prior accounting experience with a global manufacturing company

  • You have a CPA or strong accounting background

  • You have ERP (preferably NetSuite) experience

  • You love making things with your hands – 3D printing, knitting, woodworking, furniture building; it doesn’t matter what.
