Lab Technician

Job Summary:

The Laboratory (or Engineering) Technician will work under the direction of senior technical staff

members to accomplish tasks needed to produce and evaluate lithium-ion battery materials, electrodes,

other cell components, and test cells.

This position requires the ability to read instructions represented in manuals and follow these

instructions. This position exists in a temperature-controlled environment.

Essential/Key Functions:

• Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures.

• Prepare samples/materials and assemble lithium-ion test cells.

• Handle and dispense chemicals.

• Basic data work up and reporting to supervisors.

• Operate lab scale milling, mixing, and coating equipment.

• Conduct electrical testing on test cells.

• Develop and write methods and standard operating procedures.

• Contribute to reports and presentations as directed.

• Maintain clean, organized work area.

• Maintain assigned equipment/assets/properties.

• Comply with policies and procedures.

• Other duties as assigned.

• Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions.

• Provides advisory support and assistance to the department manager as needed.

• Responsible for meeting team targets and key performance indicators

• Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team.

• Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner

• Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary including weekends and holidays if

deemed

• Other duties as assigned by management

Management Responsibilities:

No direct reports. Senior technicians will participate in training junior technicians.

Minimum (Required) Qualifications:

Preferred Education:

• H.S. Graduate with 10+ years of laboratory work or equivalent skilled work experience.

• Associate’s degree in a technical field with lab coursework or 2+ years working in a lab.

• Bachelor’s of Technology degree, new or experienced graduate.

Required Experience: Candidates meeting the education minimums will be considered for Associate

Technician positions. Candidates with sufficient experience or credentials will be considered for mid[1]level Technical upon hire.

Preferred Experience: Battery industry-related experience or education is preferred.

Required Skills and Traits:

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently with minimal direction, and as part of a small team.

• Successful candidates will be both quality and detail oriented, be team oriented and flexible. They

will possess good interpersonal skills, be good in written and verbal communication and be able to

interface with co-workers and management
