Job Summary:
The Material handler is responsible for moving, storing, transporting, and managing material handling requirements of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The material handlers is responsible for unloading trucks, staging products, maintaining inventory and moving materials for the production facility. This position requires the ability to read instructions represented in manuals and follow these instructions. This position requires a forklift license. This position exists in a temperature-controlled environment.
Essential/Key Functions:
- In each of the duties listed below the employee is expected to perform to the highest standards of quality, to strive for maximum customer satisfaction, and to continually look for ways to improve the methods, practices and procedures of this position:
- Orchestrates shipping orders and prepares appropriate documentation and labels for the shipping department.
- Maintains inventory location in the system (expandable) and physically in the warehouse.
- Receives and stocks warehouse in the same calendar day.
- May performs audit of inventory
- Communicates with production floor
- Keep dock area clear and clean of items.
- Ensure sure outbound material leaves on time including working with other departments to coordinate on time deliveries.
- Clears docks of received material and moves to the designated area/location.
- Ensures personal compliance with all Company policies, procedures, values, ethics, and rules
- Maintain and promote a safe work environment including following all safety rules/regulations and proper operating procedures, as well as the proper use of prescribed safety equipment pertinent to the department
- Immediately reporting all accidents/incidents to supervisor and Human Resources.
- Participate in and complete appropriate training (on-the-job, classroom, or otherwise)
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and professional work environment.
- Ensures daily 5S requirements are met
- Performs in a manner that will prevent omissions and errors
- Follow all company policies including quality, safety, and the employee handbook
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned.
- High school or GED degree required
- Good verbal communication skills (English)
- MS office suite skills (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook) preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 pound loads several times per day
- Good manual dexterity with both hands
- Ability to stand for 8 hours at a time
