Overview: We are seeking a skilled Press Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate machinery to bend and shape metal sheets or plates according to specifications, ensuring precision and quality. You will be expected to follow safety protocols, perform machine maintenance, and work independently and collaboratively to meet production goals.

Location: Richmond, VA

Pay Rate: starting at $19/hr or more depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation: Operate press brake machinery to bend, shape, and form metal sheets or plates according to blueprints, drawings, or job orders.
  • Setup: Set up and adjust machine settings such as pressure, depth, and angle to ensure precise and accurate bending of metal parts.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload metal sheets or plates onto the press brake machine, ensuring proper alignment and positioning for accurate bending.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications, making adjustments to machine settings as necessary.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on press brake machinery, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including job orders, material usage, and quality control checks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a press brake operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operations.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational training or certification in machine operation or metalworking.
  • Familiarity with CNC (Computer Numerical Control) press brake machinery.
  • Experience with programming and setting up press brake machines.
  • Knowledge of different types of metals and their properties.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing facilities such as metal fabrication shops, automotive plants, or aerospace companies.
  • Exposure to loud noises, moving machinery, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols is essential.
