Mechanical Assembler - $18-$28 an hour DOE

A growing Rockford, IL state-of-the-art company that supplies the metalworking industry with cutting-edge machine tools and services for aerospace, marine, mass transportation, defense and energy systems, is in need of experienced Level 1 – Level 3 Mechanical Assemblers.

This is a “direct-hire” high growth potential opportunity.

Responsibilities for the Mechanical Assembler position include:

  • The Mechanical Assembler will assemble and make changes as directed by the Master Builder and requested changes as needed.

    Qualifications for the Mechanical Assembler position include:

    Level 1

  • Previous mechanical assembly experience using wrenches, calipers, micrometers, Air + spirit levels, drills, taps, hand grinder, torque wrench, dial indicator, chains, slings
  • Overhead crane & fork lift experience helpful along with scissor and man lift experience.
  • Ability to read assembly & detailed mechanical drawings, blueprints, fluid and electrical schemes
  • Knowledge about mechanic, pneumatic, hydraulic fields
  • Ability to check & set proper gears backlash through shim sizing (bevel gears, worm gears, straight gears etc.)
  • Ability to properly size shims in order to get the correct preload on bearing
  • Perform checkout tests on spindle unit and record into documentation: spindle runout, end play, side play, drawbar force, drawbar stroke

     

    Level 2

  • Experience listed above plus the below requirements.
  • Previous mechanical assembly experience using wrenches, calipers, micrometers, Air + spirit levels, drills, taps, hand grinder, torque wrench, dial indicator, chains, slings
  • Ability to read tolerance requirements and use the correct tools to measure them
  • Ability to pressure check lines for leakage and troubleshoot them
  • Perform head geometry with granite table and dial indicator
  • Use manual lathe, grinder and mill in shop to prepare components needed during assembly
  • Wire electrical components on spindle
  • Knowledge of different fittings (NPT, NPTF, BSPP, BSPT, SAE etc.) and ability to pipe them correctly

Level 3

  • Perform assembly duties as instructed by trainer and/or assigned by supervisor:
  • Experience with use of vibration monitoring equipment to test spindle and release report
  • Use balancing machine for spindle shafts
  • Check INA encoder with PWM8 and PWM20
  • Previous experience making customized tools in order to test spindle units
  • Ability to choose correct seal from the catalogue based on groove dimension
