At the apprentice or journeyman level, the applicant assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes, studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required, and sequence of installations.

Project consists of large commercial projects that are mostly institutional. The jobs are located in Salt Lake & Utah County and typically last 12-14 months so no surprises on where to go each morning.

  • Starting Wage: 4th Year Apprentice - $28 an hour, Journeyman - $32 - $36 an hour.

  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm with occasional OT on Fridays

  • This is a “direct-hire” permanent opportunity and not a “contract” or “temp position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Commercial Plumber New Construction position include:

  • Inspect structures to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe

  • Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors

  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools

  • Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine

  • Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic

  • Join pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints, fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking

  • Install plumbing fixtures

Qualifications for the Commercial Plumber New Construction position include:

  • Utah Journeyman or Apprentice Plumbing License is required. New residents with another states license are encouraged to apply.

  • A minimum of 4-5 years Commercial new construction, remodel and/or service experience is required.

  • Ability to successfully work independently and in a team setting. Communication skills are a must.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Must own the proper hand tools & pipe wrenches based on your experience.
