The Company
An established and fully accredited community-based not-for-profit healthcare provider of high quality, compassionate care for the elderly and frail individuals with aging, serious illness, or grief challenges. These services include hospice and palliative care, grief support, and the PACE program. This provider began serving Western Colorado 31 years ago and today serves a 10,000-mile radius to include Grand Junction, Delta, Montrose, Ouray, Plateau Valley, DeBeque, Mesa, and Rifle.
Scope of the Job
The President and Chief Executive Officer will report to the Board of Directors and will be based in Grand Junction, Colorado. The incumbent will serve as a strategic visionary and influential leader with the skills, passion, and commitment to advance the organization's mission, vision, purpose, and values. The CEO will oversee and have ultimate accountability for the organization's overall performance, quality, safety, care delivery, functions, employees, and volunteers.
The perfect candidate will be an authentic, values-driven leader who inspires and collaborates with others. The incumbent will drive employee and volunteer engagement and satisfaction, continue developing programs that improve quality metrics, and increase community satisfaction.
You will be expected to:
Provide Strategic Vision and Leadership
• Oversee the administration and management of the organization's mission, vision, purpose, and values. You will have full profit and loss responsibility for the business, ensuring top-line and bottom-line growth objectives are met or exceeded.
• Cultivate a strong and transparent relationship with the Board of Directors and its Committee and Sub-Boards to meet the obligations and effective governance of the organization.
• Establish and direct the organization's strategic agenda and coordinate the development of new initiatives.
• Provide organizational leadership and guide leadership responsible for attaining strategic goals and objectives.
• Develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and partners working with the organization to meet its mission and support common goals.
Strengthen Infrastructure and Operations
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality care and services while managing for current and future growth.
• Oversee the organization's fiscal management, including long- and short-term financial planning to ensure sustainability; ensure financial controls and present an annual budget to the Board of Directors; provide regular budget statements and forecast analysis.
• Develop a skilled, knowledgeable, and diverse workforce capable of attaining short and long-term strategies; ensure immediate need and long-term succession planning for key roles.
• Support and motivate the staff; facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communication with staff throughout the organization.
• Create and promote a healthy culture and diverse workforce that supports consistency and accountability throughout the organization's operations.
• Assures the effective development and execution of philanthropy efforts of the organization and maintains an active role with donor relations.
Organizational Development
• Serve as the main spokesperson for the organization through media releases, conference presentations, seminars, conferences, and other opportunities for communicating activities, goals, and success both locally and nationally.
• Increase and encourage employee opportunities for development and advancement.
• Promote awareness of the need for serious illness and end-of-life care to build a more educated community.
Program Development
• Assure well-planned and timely delivery of programs through new and existing staff and external partnerships.
• Develop and implement standardized policies, procedures, and plans to provide consistent guidance to staff.
• Assure programs and the organization comply with all local, state, and federal laws, and regulations.
• Effectively communicate operational and strategic annual and long-range organizational goals to leaders, managers, and staff to attain quality results and success in meeting objectives.
Candidate Requirements
1. We seek a seasoned healthcare executive with a minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience. Candidates should have a proven track record demonstrating operational and fiscal effectiveness as a results-oriented healthcare professional, team builder, and leader. A Master's level education or higher is required (MSN/MBA/MHA).
2. We seek a mission-driven executive and leader with a demonstrated track record of success in the not-for-profit segment. Significant knowledge of the serious illness, end-of-life, and bereavement industry is required. The perfect candidate will be a well-balanced executive with compassion, cultural and diversity sensitivity, community focus, and a business-minded professional.
3. We seek a well-rounded executive who is comfortable at all levels within the organization. The incumbent should be comfortable as the spokesperson within the community. The incumbent will develop relationships with key philanthropic foundations, financial supporters, healthcare systems, providers, community leaders, payors, advocacy groups, and other professional organizations.
4. You should have considerable experience working with or as a member of the Board of Directors.
5. You must be an accomplished leader passionate about delivering high-quality care. You must possess uncompromising ethics and integrity that will reflect favorably on the organization and in the community.
Specific Competencies & Requirements Include:
• Thorough knowledge of the serious illness, end-of-life, and bereavement industry.
• Thorough knowledge of the healthcare industry and related trends.
• Strong commitment to the professional development of self and team.
• Successful track record of recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce.
• Ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and guide people and systems; keen analytic,
organization, and critical thinking skills, which support and enable sound decision-making.
• Excellent coalition-building skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; a persuasive negotiator able to achieve consensus amongst differing opinions.
• Outstanding presentation and communication skills.
Ms. Tracy Wolfe joined Zingaro & Company as Vice-President in 2002. In 2017, Tracy was made Partner at the newly formed Zingaro, Fidler, Wolfe & Company. Tracy brings a wide range of knowledge in all areas of talent acquisition, management, business development, and human resources.
Tracy’s experience includes executive recruitment, innovative sourcing techniques, candidate slate development, offer development and closure. Her extensive knowledge and experience provides a unique understanding of the challenges faced in HR and Talent Acquisition departments today. Tracy is a current member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Ms. Wolfe graduated from Concordia University – Austin, Magna Cum Laude with a BA, Human Resources Management.
