Credit Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Finance and Credit Clerk for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a growing and stable company. This role offers the chance to gain experience across multiple finance functions while providing excellent customer service.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Daily Operations

  • Process and archive daily financial deposits with accuracy and timeliness
  • Validate customer applications to assess financial eligibility
  • Handle weekly documentation processing and manage certified correspondence
  • Sort and process incoming and outgoing mail, maintain postage equipment
  • Order department supplies and maintain organized inventory systems

Customer Service & Communication

  • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly responding to department inquiries
  • Address customer requests including documentation, tax forms, and account information
  • Prepare and distribute monthly customer correspondence
  • Respond to email requests and complete customer service forms

Data Entry & Account Management

  • Accurately input electronic payment transactions (EFT, ACH, wire transfers) for daily processing
  • Create and maintain digital customer files by scanning and organizing documentation
  • Establish new customer accounts in company system, targeting minimum of 5 accounts daily
  • Verify and validate required licenses and certificates
  • Update account information and manage service charge assessments

Processing & Administrative Support

  • Prepare documentation for legal processes by reviewing shipment records
  • Monitor and release daily orders from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Support Accounts Payable department with supply ordering and payment processing
  • Handle vendor requests including forms, tax documentation, and account setup
  • Identify and process monthly account adjustments for priority customers

Additional Duties

  • Other responsibilities as assigned to support department operations

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in accounting or financial role required

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate proficiency with personal computers and standard office software
  • Strong knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Email and internet proficiency
  • 10-key by touch capability
  • Experience with billing software and order processing systems preferred
