Back-End Python Engineer – Actions Team

We are a performance management platform that transforms HR data into actionable insights, driving measurable results for businesses. Our platform empowers HR teams to improve engagement, retention, and manager effectiveness by creating data-driven, actionable plans.

As part of the Actions Team, you'll work with the data gathered from engagement surveys to build systems that convert insights into concrete action plans for our clients. You’ll be responsible for developing back-end services, integrating third-party APIs (Slack, Teams, Zoom), and creating tools that help HR teams act on the data. The work will range from maintaining legacy systems to building new features and improving feedback requests and action workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain back-end services using Python, Django, and FastAPI, focusing on delivering robust and scalable solutions for the Actions Team.

  • Work on integrating third-party APIs (Slack, Teams, Zoom) to ensure seamless communication and task management based on the insights from engagement data.

  • Handle a wide variety of tasks, from legacy maintenance to building new features that help HR teams create actionable plans.

  • Collaborate with a team of 2 front-end engineers, 2 back-end engineers, and 1 infrastructure specialist, with a strong focus on back-end work (95%).

  • Operate in an agile, fast-paced environment, quickly adapting to new challenges and requirements while delivering efficient solutions.

  • Ensure the efficient ingestion and processing of dynamic data from engagement surveys, enabling the platform to generate action items and tasks for clients.

  • Support the team’s goal of expanding integration usage (currently 20%) to improve platform functionality and client impact.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Python, Django, and FastAPI for developing complex back-end systems.

  • Strong knowledge of API integration with third-party platforms such as Slack, Teams, and Zoom.

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS in production environments.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changes and challenges.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously in a fully remote role, ideally within Eastern Time Zone hours.

  • Passion for using data to help HR teams create actionable plans that drive meaningful change.

Nice to Have:

  • Some front-end experience (though not required).

  • Familiarity with workflow automation tools and AI/ML-powered recommendations.
