EMS - Paramedic PRN Variable Shifts

Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, or "CRMC", is a 25-bed, non-profit, critical access hospital serving Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma since 1949. As a rural hospital, CRMC is surprising because of its large size and wide variety of services. Although we can provide many of the same services you will find in a big city, we take great pride in our friendly and caring staff.

The Paramedic provides highest quality emergency care in a manner consistent with mandated protocols for Paramedic certification utilizing EMS equipment and personal skills. S/He interacts with patients and family in ages from neonatal to geriatric applying hospital Standards of Excellence with quality and compassion at the forefront of all interaction. The Paramedic reports to the Director of EMS and supports the hospital providing specific duties including:

JOB DUTIES

  • Perform vital signs including pulse ox
  • Venipuncture, UV placement and phlebotomy
  • Access central lines including ports and PICC lines
  • Maintain airways by BLS and ALS to included CPAP/BIPAP, Intubation and subglottic airways
  • Administer medications including IV, PO, IM, Nebulizer, and/or Nasal of all medications within the Paramedic scope of practice for pediatric and adult
  • Complete initial assessments of patients in admissions and waiting room
  • Clean wounds
  • Respond to EMS calls with 3rd and 4th our personnel during high call volume in EMS or as extra personnel for transfers when needed and requested by Director or Supervisor
  • 12 lead EKGS
  • Pediatric or Adult intraosseous needle placement

The Paramedic assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 150 pounds, as well as stand, walk, talk, hear, sit; reach with arms, hands and fingers to handle and feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste and smell
  • Ability to see with close, distance, full color, peripheral, full depth vision and adjust focus, required
  • Ability to relate well with all levels of the hospital/facility and medical staff, required
  • Ability to care for patients of all nationalities, cultures, beliefs, self-identifications, and ages, required
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills, required
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; ability to work under pressure and stress; required
  • Knowledge of an accreditation process and requirements, preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an approved Paramedic court and successful completion of EMS State Board Exam, required
  • Current Kansas Paramedic Certification, required
  • Current BLS and ACLS Certification, required
  • PALS or Pediatric certification, required
  • Current valid Kansas Driver’s’ License, required
  • Successful completion of Field internship, required
  • Successful completion of CRMC EMS Orientation, required
  • One-year hospital ED experience, preferred
