This newly created Director of Finance & Accounting role is a key hire that will help build the finance function to support continued scale and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Accounting: Lead technical accounting research, prepare/review memos, and provide guidance on GAAP and regulatory standards. Maintain clear and accurate documentation of accounting policies and conclusions.
  • Transaction Support: Serve as a liaison between external experts, audit teams, and internal stakeholders to manage accounting for significant business transactions.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring timely and accurate close processes, reconciliations, and account analyses.
  • Internal Controls / Risk Management: Develop and implement internal control frameworks to manage risks effectively. Provide actionable recommendations for optimization and improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Drive process transformation and system enhancements to support scalability and efficiency. Collaborate cross-functionally to align accounting operations with strategic business goals.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 5 years with a leading public accounting firm.
  • CPA certification (active or inactive) required.
  • Expertise in GAAP and financial reporting, including financial statement preparation and disclosures.
  • Proven leadership experience with at least 4 years managing teams.
  • Proficiency with major ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and financial reporting tools.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in fast-growing industries such as consumer goods, retail, or eCommerce is a plus.
  • A passion for food and culinary arts is highly valued.
